Palladino Named To D3soccer.com All-America Team
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Junior Rachael Palladino (Lansing/Lansing) of the Ithaca College women's soccer team has been named to D3soccer.com's all-America Team. A second-team pick at forward,
Palladino is the first Bomber to earn all-America recognition from D3soccer.com, which began its all-America team last year.
The high-scoring forward picked up her second all-America honor of the year after receiving first-team status from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Palladino is a three-time first-team East Region all-star and earned third-team NSCAA all-America honors last year. The Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year in 2011 and 2010 (and the league's Rookie of the Year in 2009), she's also a three-time first-team all-conference selection. This fall
Palladino scored a team-best 37 points (15 goals, seven assists), raising her career total to 119 points (50 goals, 19 assists), good for second on the program's all-time list. She's a six-time Empire 8 Player of the Week during her career and was named to the all-tournament team at the NCAA final four two weeks ago.
A total of 17 Bombers have now made 27 appearances on the NSCAA all-America team since 1985. Ithaca finished 15-4-3 this season, reaching the NCAA semifinals. The trip to the final four was the sixth for the Bombers and capped their 22nd appearance in the NCAA playoffs (no school has made more).
