Utica, NY (10/1/12)- Sophomore Louise Steele-Norton and freshman Kells Casey of the Utica College field hockey team were named Empire 8 Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Steele-Norton scored all four of Utica's goals last week. On Wednesday, she had two tallies in Utica's 4-2 loss to Elmira. On Friday, she netted two goals, including the game-winner in the Pioneers' 2-1 overtime victory over nationally-ranked No.18 University of Rochester. The Avondale, PA native leads the Empire 8 in goals (13), points (26), and shots on goal (56). She has scored 11 goals in the last six games.

Casey, who was recently named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week, picked up a 2-1 overtime victory over University of Rochester in her first collegiate start. She made six saves in the win.

The Pioneers are currently 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the Empire 8 Conference.  They return to action Wednesday as they host RPI.  The non-conference match up is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
