St. John Fisher senior midfielder Austin Buckley and Ithaca freshman goalie Kenny Chapman have been selected as the men's soccer players of the week.

Buckley provided two assists in Fisher's 3-0 upset of the nation's top scoring offense, Elmira College. The Cardinals held Elmira scoreless, while the Soaring Eagles entered the game as one of six undefeated Division III teams and averaging nearly five goals a game. Buckley assisted on Fisher's first two scores.

Fisher will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when it travels to face St. Lawrence University in a non-conference matchup.

Chapman went 1-0-1 in goal to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors. He posted his first career shutout in a 0-0 tie against previously undefeated Scranton, the first time that Scranton had been shut out this season. Chapman then earned the win as Ithaca improved to 2-0-1 in the Empire 8 with a 2-1 victory over Alfred.

The Bombers return to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Hobart at 4:30 p.m.
