HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 10, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s soccer team is ranked in both national polls this week for the first time since the start of the season. The Ducks have ridden their current eight-game winning streak to the No. 15 slot in the National Soccer Coaches Association survey and No. 22 in the D3Soccer.com poll. The team’s only blemishes this year are early 1-0 losses to No. 5 Carnegie Mellon University and No. 20 New York University.

The Ducks are also among the national leaders in numerous statistical categories. Defensively, the team has given up the 25th-fewest goals (0.66 per game) and, on the other side of the ball, the Castle Pointers have scored the 42nd-most goals (2.67 per game). Stevens’ winning percentage of .833 is good for the 32nd-best in the land.

Individually, reigning Empire 8 Player of the Week Victor Daza (North Plainfield, N.J.) has rocketed into the national spotlight and is currently ranked in six individual categories: assists (7 / 15th), assists per game (0.58 / 25th), points (23 / 29th), points per game (1.92 / 38th), goals (8 / 74th) and goals per game (0.67 / 94th).

Stevens goalkeeper Paul Killian (Ellicott City, Md.) is also remained steadily with the national leaders in both save percentage (0.87 / 21st) and goals-against average (0.54 / 26th).

The Ducks will be back in action on Saturday against Elmira College at 1 p.m.
