Two Football Teams Ranked in Top 10
The St. John Fisher College and Salisbury University football team rank in the top 10 in the latest American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) top 25 poll and the d3football.com poll, the organizations announced.
The Cardinals were idle this week and maintained their ranking of No. 8 in the AFCA and No. 9 in d3football.com.
The Salisbury University football team moved to No. 10 in the latest AFCA poll and remained No. 7 in the d3football.com poll. Salisbury (3-1, 1-0 Empire 8) opened league play with a 20-7 win at Buffalo State College on Saturday, earning 621 points in the AFCA poll and 467 in the d3football.com poll.
The Cardinals and Sea Gulls will return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 6th in Rochester, NY in a pivotal Empire 8 showdown. Both Fisher and Salisbury advanced to the national quarterfinals last year.
The undefeated Ithaca College football team (4-0, 2-0 Empire 8) moved up two spots in the AFCA, good for third among the ‘other teams receiving votes’ (28th overall).
The Bombers are also receiving votes along with Alfred University in the d3football.com poll. The Saxons will host Ithaca on Saturday at 1pm.
