The Empire 8 Conference has selected a Houghton forward and a St. John Fisher goalie to earn field hockey weekly honors.

Senior Ashly Engle scored eight points in two games as Houghton went 1-1 on the week. Engle tallied a hat trick in the 5-1 win over Morrisville on two unassisted goals and a penalty stroke. She added one goal in the 3-2 loss to Utica. The other goal for Houghton was registered when Engle fired a shot front outside the circle that was counted as an own goal by Utica.

The Highlanders will be back on the field next Wednesday when they travel to take on SUNY Brockport at 4:00pm.

Freshman Danielle Famolaro has been tabbed as the Empire 8 Conference's Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year.

Famolaro made 11 saves in a crucial 2-1 conference win over Nazareth College on Wednesday night. That win secured an Empire 8 postseason berth for the Cardinals in just their second season.

The freshman has compiled a total of 125 saves with her career high coming against Susquehanna totaling 15 saves in the game. With a 79.1 save percentage, she is ranked 35th nationally and has helped lead her defense to a ranking of 26th nationally in team save percentage, which takes into account defensive saves.

Fisher football will return to action on Saturday with a 12p.m. conference game at Frostburg State. The field hockey team will next play at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at University of Rochester.
