The Utica College football team received votes in the latest D3football.com and the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) Division III poll for the first time in the program's 12-year history.

The Pioneers (6-2, 4-1 Empire 8), who are riding the highs of a four game winning streak and their first-ever win over Alfred University on Saturday, were amongst teams also receiving votes in the latest polls.

UC is prepped for an Empire 8 Conference first place showdown at nationally-ranked Salisbury on Saturday at 12 p.m. The winner of Saturday's contest will hold sole possession of first place in the Empire 8.

Salisbury (6-2, 4-1) ranked 16th by d3football.com and No. 21 by the AFCA is coming off a 21-14 upset loss at Ithaca College this past weekend.  It was the first Empire 8 loss by the Sea Gulls since joining the conference prior to the 2011 season.

St. John Fisher is ranked No. 25 in the D3football.com poll and joins Utica as a team also receiving votes in the AFCA poll. Fisher shut out Frostburg State University, 21-0 on Saturday afternoon. Fisher will return to action at 12 p.m. next Saturday as it gears up for its final home game with the visiting Buffalo State Bengals.
