Steele-Norton and McClymont Garner Weekly Recognition
Sophomore Louise Steele-Norton of Utica College and senior Kaitlin McClymont of Stevens Institute of Technology have been named the Empire 8 Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.
Steele Norton earns her second straight honor as she scored three goals in Utica's 6-2 win over RPI on Wednesday. She followed that up with a tally in a 4-3 loss at W & J, Saturday.
Steele-Norton currently has a nine game scoring streak has 17 goals on the season. She has scored at least two goals in three of the last four games and needs just one more goal to tie the College's single-season goal-scoring record.
The Pioneers are 7-4 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8 Conference. They return to action Wednesday as they face nationally ranked No. 4 Skidmore University. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
McClymont and the Ducks went 1-1, falling to No. 10 Montclair State University, 3-2, but defeating Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher College 2-0 Sunday afternoon. In the win over the Cardinals, McClymont recorded the first shutout of her career, making four saves to blank Fisher. The win moved the Ducks to 5-0 in the Empire 8 which is good for first place.
The Texas native also added six stops in a tough loss to MSU on Wednesday. In total, McClymont had 1.50 goals-against average, a.769 save percentage and 10 saves for the week.
Stevens will return to action Wednesday evening with a contest against William Paterson University. Game time is slated for 5 p.m. from the De Baun Athletic Complex.
