Cahill Named Empire 8 Runner of the Week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 8, 2012) – Stevens Institute of Technology men’s junior cross country runner Michael Cahill (Clark, N.J.) earned Empire 8 Conference Runner of the Week after his performance at the Saratoga Invitational hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on October 6. Cahill paced Stevens to an eighth place finish out of 16 teams at the meet.

In the event that measured 8,000 meters with 192 total runners, Cahill placed sixth individually with a school-record time of 25:54.71 at Saratoga Springs State Park by 34 seconds. He blew past the old mark of 26:28 set last year at the same course during the Empire 8 Championship.

So far this season, Cahill has been the Ducks’ top finisher in four of the team’s five events.

Stevens competes again on October 20 at the CTC Championships at 10 a.m. in Sewell, N.J.
