BOX SCORE

The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on to defeat top-seeded College at Brockport 3-2 on Sunday at Fisher's Growney Stadium in the finals of the ECAC Upstate Championship.

With the win, the No. 2 Cardinals close out the season with a 9-7-5 overall record, while Brockport falls to 15-3-2.   It is the second post-season title for the Cardinals (Fisher defeated Russell Sage 1-0 in the NYSWCAA Championship in 2006) in the last six years and is the best winning percentage by a Fisher team since 1995.

Fisher's Alexandra Rohloff was named as the Championship's Most Outstanding Player.  She scored in the 41st minute to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead at the half.

Krista Pilla, who assisted on Chelsea Oberkrieser's goal in the first half, pushed Fisher's lead to 3-0 in the 53rd minute, before Brockport rallied.   The Golden Eagles scored 65 seconds after Pilla's goal to make it 3-1 and found the back of the net in the 75th minute to make it 3-2, but goalie Sydney DeVitto, who finished the game with three saves, preserved the win.

"This is a great win for our program," said head coach Jill McCabe, now in her 12th year at the College. "Our seniors have worked really hard over the last four years and this is a great way for them to end their collegiate careers."
