Seven Empire 8 football student-athletes have been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Football Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.30 grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on his team.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. They include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants.

Salisbury’s quarterback Dan Griffin and left guard Jeremy Harrissmith along with Frostburg senior wide receiver Anthony Young were named to the District 2 First Team.  Hartwick junior defensive end Joe Seney, Ithaca senior running back Clay Ardoin and St. John Fisher juniors Cody Miller and Kyle Barry were named to the District 3 team.

Griffin carries a 3.4 GPA in physical education, has gained 724 yards rushing and 12 TDs in ten games to go along with being 42-for-76 with 782 yards and seven TDs passing.

Harrissmith is a corporate finance major with a 3.6 GPA. He has seen action in nine games this season and helped SU gain a season-high 611 yards in a 63-23 win against Utica College. The offensive line was named Beyond Sports Network Division III Offensive Line of Week for its efforts.

Young is third in the Empire 8 in receptions (46), sixth in receiving yards (610) and tied for eighth in receiving touchdowns (4). He is currently second in school history in receptions (179), third in receiving yards (2,226) and seventh in touchdowns (14). Young has started 30 games at wide receiver and has caught a pass in 32-straight contests. Off the field, Young is a pre-art major with a 3.469 grade point average.

Seney carries a 3.59 cumulative grade-point average and is a Computer Science and Mathematics double major at Hartwick. This season, Seney has played in all ten games for the Hawks and is the team's second leading tackler with 52. He leads 'Wick in tackles for loss (12.5) and is second in sacks (4.5). He also has two quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, and one pass defended on the year.

Ardoin appeared in all 10 games for the Bombers and was one of two Empire 8 players to rush over 1,000 yards (1,038). He had 197 carries for an average of 5.3 yards. Ardoin scored eight of Ithaca’s 12 rushing touchdowns. In the classroom he carries a 3.54 GPA as a clinical health studies major.

Barry, an offensive lineman, has provided an anchoring role in an offense that has 3,408 yards of total offense, which averages to 340.8 yards per game. The offense gets 5.2 yards per play and has 18 touchdowns rushing, while scoring 12 times in the air.

Barry's offensive line has given way for the Cardinals' running back corps, led by Miller. As a team, Fisher has 1,817 yards on the ground for 187.1 yards per game. Miller leads all backs with 900 yards, going over 100 yards in four of his last six games, including 208 yards against Ithaca College in a 21-17 Cardinal win. The back accounts for 11 of Fisher's 18 rushing touchdowns, including all three scores in the same game against the Bombers.  With one game remaining, Miller could become the fifth Fisher football player to go over 1,000 yards rushing in a season in the program’s history.

Barry, a management major, carries a 3.70 GPA in his major, while Miller has a 3.62 GPA as a childhood education major.
