E8 Athletes of the Week; Salisbury Sweeps Football and Stevens' Swimmers Hit B-Cuts
Football Offensive Player – Salisbury University
Dan Griffin, Senior, QB – Jarrettsville, MD/North Harford
Senior quarterback Dan Griffin became No. 15 Salisbury’s all-time leading scorer in a 48-2 Regents Cup victory over Frostburg State to clinch the outright Empire 8 title Saturday. He ran for 70 yards and two touchdowns and was 4-of-8 with 116 yards and another TD through the air. Griffin tied the SU all-time scoring mark with a 15-yard rushing score in the first quarter and added a 2-yard plunge in the third to claim sole possession of the top spot with 270 points.

Paul Moore, Senior, DB – Odenton, MD/Saint Joseph
Senior cornerback Paul Moore returned a fumble 20 yards for his third touchdown of the season in No. 15 Salisbury’s 48-2 Regents Cup victory over Frostburg State to clinch the outright Empire 8 title Saturday. He now has two fumble recoveries for TDs and an interception for a score this year. Moore added five tackles and pass broken up on the day.

Isaiah Taylor, Sophomore, SL – Baltimore, MD/Hereford
Sophomore slot Isaiah Taylor returned a Frostburg State punt 70 yards for a touchdown as the No. 15 Sea Gulls defeated the Bobcats in the 14th annual Regents Cup Game, 48-2, to clinch the outright Empire 8 title Saturday. The punt-return TD was the first for SU since Oct. 3, 2009. Taylor earned the Salisbury Regents Cup McGlinchey MVP for the game as he also caught four passes for 116 yards and touchdown.
Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete – Stevens Institute of Technology
Ravi Sun, Freshman – Arkadephia, AR/Arkadelphia
Freshman Ravi Sun helped lead Stevens to a convincing win over cross-river rival NYU on Saturday. Sun recorded an NCAA B-cut with a win in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking the second fastest time in NCAA Division III this year with a 1:52.77. He just missed another B-cut in winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.79 and was second in the 100-yard butterfly (52.82). Sun also helped Stevens' "B" 200-medley relay team to a second-place finish. His backstroke split of 24.53 was the fastest in the race.
Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete – Stevens Institute of Technology
Louise Moores, Junior – Mukilteo, WA/Kamiak
Louise Moores led Stevens to a strong win over cross-river rival NYU Saturday. Moores clocked an NCAA B-cut time of 57.78 in winning the 100-yard backstroke and just missed a cut in the 100-yard butterfly, placing first with a 58.54. She also contributed to a pair of winning relays. In the 200-yard medley she notched a split of 26.72 in the backstroke to help Stevens to a 1:50.67. She then went 53.20 in her split - the fourth leg - of the 400-free relay, keying the Ducks to a 3:40.76.
