Five Cross Country Runners Named All-Region

The 2012 NCAA Division III Cross Country All-Region Awards have been announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following this weekend’s Regional Championships.

The Empire 8 Athletic Conference had three men and two women honored.

On the men's side, Ithaca had three athletes earn all-region accolades by finishing in the top 35. The Bombers had three earn all-region accolades by finishing in the top 35. Senior Nathan Bickell led the way with a 15th-place finish of 25:57.40. Freshman Sawyer Hitchcock and senior David Geary each clocked career-best times. Hitchcock placed 25th in 26:05.40 and Geary followed in 30th with a time of 26:15.00.

As a team, Ithaca ran to a seventh-place finish out of 44 teams. 

Ithaca and Stevens Institute of Technolgy each had one female runner finish in the top 35 to earn all-region. 

Amy Regan became the first Stevens women's cross country runner to receive all-region recognition after a ninth place finish at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals.  On the 6K course, Regan clocked a school record and personal best time of 22:19.7. 

Sophomore Alexa Rick earned all-region honors with a 24th-place finish out of 277 runners. She crossed the finish line in 22:41.70 to lead Ithaca to a fifth-place finish as a team.
