Ithaca Team and Stevens' Regan to Participate at the NCAA Championships
The Ithaca College women’s cross country team placed fifth at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships and earned an at-large invitation into the NCAA Championships. The NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Committee announced
the team and individual qualifiers for the 2012 Championships.
The Bombers last competed as a team at the NCAA Championships in 2009 where they finished 31st overall. Ithaca has made 19 trips to the championship meet as a team, collecting 10 top-10 finishes. Twenty Bombers have earned individual all-America honors.
Stevens Institute of Technology freshman Amy Regan became the first Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country runner to receive all-region recognition after a ninth place finish at the regional meet. Regan finished second amongst freshmen out of 277 total competitors at the event.
On the 6K course, Regan clocked a school record and personal best time of 22:19.7. She improved her top time by one minute in the race and also became the first male or female Duck runner to qualify for the NCAA Championship.
The championships will be hosted by Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 17.
