2012 Longstreth/NFHCA Regional Players of the Year

Utica College sophomore Louise Steele-Norton of the Utica College field hockey team was named the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III North Atlantic Region Player of the Year.

Steele-Norton, the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Conference selection, led the E8 with 27 goals and 56 points.  She set a new league record for goals per game (1.35) and goals in a season and tied the single-season conference record with seven game-winning goals. The Avondale, PA native also broke the College's single season record for goals, points, points per game (2.80), and goals per game.

In her career, Steele-Norton is fourth place in points all-time in program history (87).  She is one point behind Carla Behe '06, and needs just 23 to become the highest scorer in UC history.  Her 42 career goals rank third all-time, and is just four behind Shannon Rohacek '05 for first on the list.

Steele-Norton helped the Pioneers to their first ever Empire 8 Conference Championship and the program’s first trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
