Ithaca Softball Squad Raises $3,000 for Cancer Research, Participates in Walkathon
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team raised $3,000 for cancer research and competed in the 19th annual Walkathon & 5K Run in support of the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes. The Bombers participated in the event that was held in Cass Park on Saturday, Oct. 13 for the 12th straight year.
“This is something we need to do for our community,” said head coach Deb Pallozzi. “The appreciation that is expressed from survivors, those battling and everyone in attendance is overwhelming. We do it because it’s the right thing to do.”
More than $135,000 was raised during the event. Over 800 people participated this year and 200 people volunteered.
The Walkathon & 5K is the most important fundraising and outreach event of the year for the CRCFL. All of the money raised remains in the community to provide programs and services for people with cancer and those who love them.
