Buckner and Hebert Take POW Honors
Camaryn Buckner of the St. John Fisher College and Heather Hebert of Alfred University have been named the Empire 8 Women’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending November 25, 2012.
In a 2-1 week for the Cardinals, Buckner played a pivotal role in each contest, leading Fisher to its first two wins of the season.
In the opening round of the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa Invitational hosted by Fisher, the junior forward scored 15 of her team-high and season-high 21 points in the first half, also contributing eight rebounds, one assist, and one block.
On Sunday, she recorded her first double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds, also tallying two steals and tying a career-high with six blocks, leading Fisher to a 67-55 victory.
For her outstanding efforts with 41 points, 18 rebounds, and seven blocks in the tournament, Buckner was named Most Valuable Player of the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa Invitational.
In a 68-58 loss to Medaille College on Tuesday, she recorded a team-high eight rebounds while also chipping in four points.
Hebert averaged 12 points and 4.5 rebounds in 2-0 week for the Saxons’. She finished with 14 points, six rebounds and six steals against Penn College Tuesday night. Saturday afternoon, Hebert finished in double-digits for the third time in four games with 10 points and added eight steals to her stat line in the win over Hilbert.
