Dunbar and Foley Earn District All-Academic Honors
Men's soccer standouts Stephan Dunbar and Ryan Foley have been honored as a Capital One Academic All-District honoree for 2012. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Dunbar, a junior, of the No. 7 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team was named to the District 3 team. Dunbar has led Stevens to a 16-2 record this season and the team will play in the Empire 8 Championship Match on Sunday.
Dunbar boasts a 3.53 grade point average while majoring in civil engineering. Dunbar has started all 17 games he played this season, and is second on the squad in both goals with nine and points with 20.
Foley, a junior midfielder from Waterford, Ireland, was a District 4 selection, which encompasses all of New York state.
Foley completed the 2012 season as Nazareth's third leading scorer with four goals and six assists for 16 points. In three seasons, Foley has 52 points on 17 goals and 18 assists. In the classroom, Foley has a 3.70 grade-point average as a Physical Therapy major.
As first-team selections, both players will be moved to the national ballot for consideration as Academic All-Americans.
