Four Women's Soccer Players Honored on District All-Academic First Team

Four Empire 8 women’s soccer players have been named a Capital One Academic All-District team for 2012. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Ithaca seniors Rachael Palladino and Becca Salant along with Nazareth senior Amanda Sudore are District 3 honorees while Bridget Barden of Stevens Institute of Technology made the District 2 team.
 
Palladino leads the Bombers (16-1-1) with 26 points this season on a squad-high 12 goals and two assists. She ranks second all-time at Ithaca with 59 goals and 139 points, while sitting third with 21 assists. Palladino majors in Health Science with a 3.56 grade-point average.
 
Salant is 16-1-0 in goal with eight complete shutouts for the Blue & Gold in 2012. Starting 17 games, she has recorded 58 saves and allowed just six goals in 1,460 minutes of action. Her save percentage of .906 ranks seventh in the nation and her goals-against average of .37 sits ninth. Salant boasts a 3.74 gpa in clinical health studies.
 
In 2012, Sudore has one goal and has anchored a defensive unit that has limited the opposition to less than one goal per game. She has a 3.66 gpa as a Communication Sciences and Disorders major.
 
Barden holds a 3.76 grade-point average in chemical engineering and has three goals on the season.??Barden has started in all 16 games in which she’s played in this year.
 
As first-team selections, both players will be moved to the national ballot for consideration as Academic All-Americans.
