Salisbury University senior quarterback Dan Griffin and Ithaca junior Brian Garvey were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Griffin helped the Sea Gulls claim the Empire 8 Athletic Conference's automatic qualification to the NCAA tournament with a 63-23 win over Utica College on Saturday. He ran for a career-high five touchdowns on a season-best 142 yards, averaging 8.4 yards per carry. He also threw for 47 yards.

A Jarrettsville, Md., native, Griffin recorded touchdowns of 2, 56, 4, 2 and 1 yard, respectively.

His 30 points on the day vaulted him into second place all-time on SU's points-scored list with 258, just six away from tying for the top spot.

This season, Griffin has 518 yards rushing and 10 TDs in nine games to go along with being 38-for-68 with 666 yards and six TDs passing.

The Team of the Week is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, recognizing the top performances at 14 positions from the previous week.

Salisbury (7-2, 5-1 Empire 8) travel to Frostburg State University to close the regular season with the 14th annual Regents Cup game on Saturday. Kickoff at Bobcat Stadium is 1 p.m.

Garvey tied a school record with three interceptions in Ithaca's 28-7 conference victory over Hartwick on Saturday en route to being named Empire 8 Football Defensive Player of the Week announced Monday.

His three interceptions were part of a school-record six interceptions overall by the Bomber defense. Garvey returned his third interception of the day four yards for a touchdown. He also factored in on eight tackles.

The Bombers wrap up regular-season play on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Cortland in the annual Cortaca Jug game.
