Warnon Named E8 Male Swimmer of the Week

Freshman swimmer Raphael Warnon, of the Utica College men’s swim and dive team, was named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week Monday for the week ending November, 4th.
Warnon, a Rock Tavern, NY native, burst on the scene for UC with two convincing solo wins in his second collegiate competition. He finished seven seconds ahead of the field in the 200-yd IM (2:13.41) and three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in the 100-yd backstroke (1:01.42). He also helped the Pioneers to a first place finish in the 200-meter medley relay with a split of 27.69 in the 50 backstroke.
The Pioneers are currently 1-1 on the season and will travel to Aurora, NY Saturday to face Wells College. The competition will be held at the Schwartz Athletic Center and is set to begin at 1 p.m.
