Elmira junior Taryn Rumsey
has earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District Team, as announced by CoSIDA.
Rumsey has had an outstanding junior season as she ranks second on the team in kills with 429, pounding out 3.58 per set. She also sits second best on the team with 47 service aces and third with 299 digs accounting for 2.49 per set.
The Mansfield, PA native has been equally as impressive in the classroom as she has been on the volleyball court. Rumsey carried a 4.0 cumulative GPA throughout her sophomore year. Academically, she has been named to the Dean’s List each of her six terms on Elmira College’s campus. She was also inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, EC’s freshman honor society, and the Elmira College Honor Society, for those carrying a 3.8 GPA or higher.
Throughout her career in the Purple and Gold she has also earned a number of distinctions on the court. In 2010 Rumsey was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Rookie of the Year, and earned AVCA All-American Honorable Mention accolades.
