Maisch Named Player of the Week; Lott Repeats as Rookie
The Empire 8 Conference has named Utica junior Connor Maisch its Player of the Week and St. John Fisher freshman Chaz Lott its Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 9, 2012. It is the first honor for Maisch, while it is the second-straight week Lott has earned the award and the third time in the season's first four weeks.
Maisch averaged 18.0 points and 9.5 boards as UC went 1-1 this past week in Empire 8 Conference action. He had a game-high 25 points, including eight rebounds, in a big 75-72 road win over conference power Hartwick on Tuesday night. The first-year Pioneer followed up with a double-double on Friday as he tallied 11 points and 10 boards as Utica fell to #25 Stevens.
Lott helped the Cardinals in a 2-1 week that featured all three games at home. The first contest was the Empire 8 season-opener against Alfred University. Lott played a well-rounded game, scoring three points, grabbing five rebounds and distributing three assists in the contest. On Friday, against Elmira, Lott once again filled the stat sheet, corralling eight rebounds, contributing a team-best four assists while adding two points. On Sunday, Fisher lost a non-conference matchup 61-54 to Worcester State University after starting the game 2-for-19 from the field. Lott finished with 10 points, a game-high six assists and five boards.
