Empire 8 places four institutions in fall 2012-13 Director's Cup Standings

The Empire 8 enjoyed another successful fall season, evidenced by the league's showing in the fall 2012-13 Division III Learfield Sports Director's Cup Standings of the season.
 
The standings, which measure schools' overall achievement in postseason play by awarding points based on each team's finish, were released Dec. 19, 2012 by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
 
All four Empire schools appear in the top 130 with three in the top 100 and one in the top 50.
 
Leading the way for the Empire 8 is Ithaca College, which earned the No. 49 ranking with at total score of 108.00. The Bombers scored pointed in two of the NCAA Championships conducted during the fall. The women’s soccer team tied for ninth nationally after advancing to the third round and was eliminated on penalty kicks, while the women’s cross country team finished 30th.
 
The second Empire 8 school in the standings was Stevens Institute of Technology at No. 80. The Ducks amassed 64 points due to their postseason success in men’s soccer when they reached the third round.
 
Utica College ranked 91st in Division III thank to its ninth place performance in field hockey and Nazareth College was the final Empire 8 team in the rankings at No. 129 thanks to a total of 25 points from its women’s volleyball team.
 
The next set of 2012-13 Director's Cup Standings will be announced following the conclusion of the winter sports season. The final standings are scheduled to come out in June following the conclusion of the academic year and spring athletic season. The Director's Cup was developed as joint effort between NACDA and USA Today.
