Chris Cassidy averaged a phenomenal 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games this week for Elmira while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. The Soaring Eagles fell to Union College, 56-49, in Daytona Beach on Saturday evening as Cassidy paced Elmira with 17 points on 8-of-15 from the field. Cassidy finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds in the 68-60 loss to the United States Merchant Marine Academy Sunday evening.

Women’s Basketball Player – Hartwick
Maria Foglia, Junior, Guard – Rensselaer, NY/Catholic Central
Maria Foglia averaged 19 points per game for Hartwick in two games at the 2012 Cruzin Classic in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She shot 48% from the field, 50% from three-point range, and 83% from the free-throw line in the two contests. In a 61-49 victory over Randolph-Macon, Foglia scored a season- and game-high 25 points. She made 7-of-11 of her shots from the floor, 3-of-4 from three-point range, and connected on all eight shots from the line to go along with four steals. Two days later in a a 56-50 setback to Mary Washington, she scored 13 points with a trio of three-pointers. She also dished out four assists and picked up two steals. Foglia leads Hartwick this season in scoring and assists and is second in three-pointers and steals.
Women’s Basketball Rookie – Hartwick
Brittney Dumas, Guard – Easton, CT/Joel Barlow
Brittany Dumas averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 50% from the floor in two games for Hartwick at the 2012 Cruzin Classic in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She opened play with a career-high 17 points and eight rebounds in a 61-49 victory over Randolph-Macon. In the contest, she shot 7-of-11 from the floor, made her only three-point attempt and both free-throw attempts. She also had two steals, one block, and one assist. Two days later, she scored eight points and contributed a career-high four steals with three boards in a 56-50 setback to Mary Washington. She leads her team in field-goal percentage and blocks, is second in rebounding, and is third in scoring this season.
