Zoltowski and Dumas Earn E8 Weekly Honors
Elmira junior Jessica Zoltowski and Hartwick freshman Brittany Dumas earned Empire 8 Women's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week accolades, respectively, for the week of Nov 26-Dec 2.
Zoltowski had a remarkable week averaging a double-double per outing as she led Elmira to a 2-1 week. The junior finished the week averaging 21 points and 11 rebounds per game. Zoltowski tallied game-highs of 22 points and 15 rebounds in a 65-53 win against Sage on Tuesday. On Saturday in a loss to St. Lawrence she recorded game-bests of 24 points, 13 boards and five steals.
Elmira opens conference play Tuesday when it travels to take on Ithaca College starting at 6:00 p.m.
Dumas helped the Hawks to a pair of wins this week. She scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds with a blocked shot, an assist, and a steal in a 48-38 win over the Oneonta State Red Dragons on Wednesday in a game featuring two 2012 NCAA Tournament teams. On Saturday, she scored a career-high 13 points and added seven rebounds, two blocks, and two assists as the Hawks rolled to a 69-33 victory over Morrisville State.
The Hawks are winners of five straight games and take a 5-1 record into Tuesday's Empire 8 Conference opener against Utica College.
