Bombers Hit Four ECAC Standards at Cornell's Denault Invitational
Ithaca, N.Y. – The Ithaca men’s track & field team hit four ECAC qualifiers on Saturday at Cornell’s Marc Denault Memorial Invitational.
Ithaca’s 3,200-meter relay team of junior Matthew Kastler, freshman Mason Mann, junior Billy Savage and freshman Dennis Ryan clocked a season-best time of 7:58.32 to win the event and easily qualify for the ECAC Indoor Championships.
Running a career-best time of 4:21.80 in the mile run, junior David Geary placed third while qualifying for ECACs.
Junior Brian Maley hit the ECAC standard with a seventh-place performance in the long jump of 6.71 meters.
Senior Jusan Hamilton had a career-best, fourth-place finish of 16.14 meters in the weight throw to again qualify for the ECAC meet.
The Bombers recorded an additional nine top-10 performances.
Sophomore Brennan Edmonds placed third in the 300 dash, senior Doug Koury fifth and freshman Matt Femia eighth. Edmonds clocked a 36.24 finish, Koury a 36.38 finish and Femia a time of 36.94. Femia also placed 10th in the 200 dash in 23.68.
Junior Julian Orenstein placed sixth in the 500 run and freshman Matt Killian seventh with times of 1:10.28 and 1:10.37, respectively.
Freshman Anthony Altobelli crossed the finish line of the 1,000 run in 2:46.27, while junior Nathan Bickell finished the mile run in seventh with a time of 3:39.59.
Sophomore Brendan Wilkins finished ninth in the high jump with a clear of 1.84 meters.
The Bombers will next compete on Feb. 24-25 at the NYSCTC Indoor Championships hosted by Hamilton.
