Ithaca Tied for Fourth After Day One of NYSCTC Competition
Clinton, N.Y. – The Ithaca men’s track & field team sits tied for fourth out of 10 teams after day one of competition at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Hamilton. The Bombers have 29 points after seven events scored.
Ithaca won one event on Saturday and earned 12 All-NYSCTC performances – four individual, eight relay. The Bombers earned four spots in Saturday’s finals.
Junior David Geary, freshman Mason Mann and juniors Billy Savage and Nathan Bickell teamed to win the distance medley relay in an ECAC-qualifying time of 10:15.50, beating second-place RIT by .05 seconds, to set a new Margaret Bundy Scott Fieldhouse record.
Junior Brian Maley placed fourth in the long jump with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 6.78 meters.
Senior Kramer Jakubek cleared 1.88 meters in the high jump to finish sixth, while classmate Doug Koury placed eighth also with a height of 1.88 meters.
Senior Dan Craighead finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run crossing the finish line in 15:36.70.
The Bombers closed out Friday action on the track with a third-place showing in the 4x200 relay. Sophomore Brennan Edmonds, Koury, sophomore Jake Willis and freshman Rashaad Barrett teamed together to finish in an ECAC-qualifying time of 1:32.11.
The Bombers have two running in the 400 dash finals on Friday as Koury won his heat and finished the preliminaries in 52.00 and Edmonds finished in 51.68.
Junior Matt Confer has qualified for the 60 hurdles finals with a time of 8.65 in the preliminaries.
Willis is moving on to the finals in the 60 dash after finishing the prelims with an ECAC-qualifying time of 7.10.
Junior Alec Svoboda ranks fifth in the heptathlon standings at the conclusion of four events with 2,348 points. He won the shot put with a toss of 11.03 meters and finished second in the long jump with a mark of 6.03 meters. Junior Rad Arrindell sits 12th with 2,061 points.
