Bombers Defense Clamps Down Again For 58-42 Win At Nazareth
Rochester, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's basketball team (17-4, 9-1 Empire 8) remained in a first-place tie atop the Empire 8 standings, cruising to a 58-42 win at Nazareth (11-9, 4-6 Empire 8).
The Bombers, who rank 23rd nationally in scoring defense, have allowed 45 points or fewer in six of their last eight games. They held the Golden Flyers to 29.3 shooting from the floor (17 of 58).
Senior
Jess Farley led the Bombers with 17 points -- one short of her season high. She added three steals, three rebounds and a pair of assists.
Sophomore guard
Kathryn Campbell scored 10 points -- all in the first half -- and sophomore forward
Jenn Escobido finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
Junior forward
Elizabeth Conti collected seven points, five rebounds and three steals. The Bombers outrebounded Nazareth 46-35.
Ithaca held the Golden Flyers to two baskets over the first 10:50, opening up a 27-5 lead. After taking a 34-21 lead into intermission the Bombers scored the first two points of the second half on a pair of free throws by junior center
Devin Shea and held a lead of at least 15 points for the remainder of the game.
