Ithaca Knocks Off St. John Fisher, Clinches Playoff Spot

Pittsford, N.Y. -- The women's basketball tea (18-4, 10-1 Empire 8) held off host St. John Fisher (11-11, 7-4 Empire 8) 74-66 Saturday. The Bombers have clinched a spot in the four-team Empire 8 Championship Tournament, which will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27 and 28 at the site of the regular-season champion. The Bombers, who are the only school to qualify for all nine conference playoff tournaments that have been held, are tied with Hartwick atop the league standings.

Senior guard Jess Farley scored a season-best 19 points and added five steals and four assists. She raised her career total to 189 steals, moving into eighth on the program's all-time list. Farley connected on three three-point baskets, which moves her into ninth among Ithaca's career leaders with a total of 70.

Junior center Devin Shea added 19 points as well and led Ithaca with five assists. She pulled down seven rebounds and added a pair of steals.

Sophomore guard Kathryn Campbell recorded her third career double-double, netting 13 points and adding a career-high 10 rebounds. She also notched four assists. Sophomore guard Elisabeth Wentlent, who finished with six points and three assists, also posted a career-best rebounding total, pulling down eight. As a team the Bombers outrebounded the Cardinals 44-31.

Sophomore guard Mary Kate Tierney scored a career-best 14 points.

The win was Ithaca's seventh straight over the Cardinals and the Bombers' 12th victory in 15 tries against St. John Fisher.
