Stevens Men's Lacrosse Jumps To No. 4; Will Host No. 2 Tufts on Saturday
PERRY, N.Y. (March 12, 2012) – In the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Top-20 poll released earlier today, the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s lacrosse team moved up three spots to No. 4 after a pair of wins over Muhlenberg College and Endicott College this week. The Ducks are 5-0 this season and will host No. 2 Tufts University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Stevens defeated Muhlenberg on March 7 in Allentown, Pa., 18-14, and then traveled up to the Boston area to take on then No. 15 Endicott College, and dropped the Gulls, 8-7 in overtime.
In the two victories this week, junior midfielder Rich Dupras (Hillsborough, N.J.) tallied 10 goals. For his efforts, Dupras was named the Empire 8 Conference’s Player of the Week after scoring six goals against Muhlenberg and four more versus Endicott.
Through five games this season, the Ducks have outscored their opponents, 72-40. Stevens has forced 14 more turnovers in five contests and prevailed on 13 more clears for a better clear percentage of .840 to .685.
On Saturday, Stevens will look to knock off No. 2 Tufts for its sixth consecutive win. The Jumbos won the NCAA national championship two seasons ago and were the runners-up last year.
