Ithaca Softball Wins Two of First Three Games In Florida

Clermont, Fla. - The 18th-ranked Ithaca softball team has posted two wins and a loss through its first three games of the season at the National Training Center. The Bombers return to action Wednesday with games against Plattsburgh and Manhattanville.

#18 Ithaca 7, Lesley 6

Ithaca scored a run in the first inning on an RBI single by Molly O'Donnell, and added another run in the top of the second. The Bombers trailed 4-2 before breaking through with a five-run inning in the top of the fourth, highlighted by back-to-back doubles and a two-run homer by Sydney Folk, who finished with four hits in the game. Sam Bender started and won the game, and Jillian Olmstead earned the save by pitching a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

#18 Ithaca 3, Wis.-Stout 2

The Bombers built a 3-0 lead in the game and held on for the victory. Ithaca took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run sacrifice fly with the bases loaded. Sydney Folk hit a solo homer in the sixth inning to provide a vital insurance run for the Bombers as Wisconsin-Stout rallied for two runs in the seventh inning, but left the bases loaded. Jillian Olmstead was the winning pitcher for Ithaca.

In Sunday's game, the Bombers dropped a 6-3 rain-shortened decision to #4 Emory and the scheduled game against Washington (Mo.) was rained out.
