Potsdam, NY – The EC Women’s Lacrosse team dominated the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton 19-1 on Sunday afternoon. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 2-1, while the loss drops the Kangaroos to 0-3.
From the start of the game the Soaring Eagles looked to control the tempo of the game and make sure the Kangaroos could not get many opportunities to score. EC scored three quick goals within the first two minutes of the game with Meghan Pass ’12 (Owego, NY -- Owego Free Academy) and Lindsay Mitchell ’12 (Arnold, MD -- Arnold) leading the way. Canton got its only score of the game at the 3:08 mark with Tressa Goolden scoring the free position goal. For the rest of the game EC ruled the game scoring 16 more goals to cruise to an easy victory.
Twelve different players contributed to the EC offense with Pass and Jordan Donegan ’12 (Syracuse, NY -- Corcoran) leading the way. Pass finished the game with seven points coming in the form of three goals and four assists. Donegan contributed five points to the offense with four goals and one assist on the day reaching the EC 100 point club for her career. Also putting up multiple points for the offense was Mitchell who tallied one goal, four assists and two ground balls. Other playmakers in the game for Elmira were Emma Schepers ’14 (Elmvale, ONT -- Team Ontario), Marki Michaels ’13 (Manchester, NY -- Midlakes), Rory Donahue ’14 (Trumbull, CT -- St. Joseph), Samantha Risi ’14 (Coopersburg, PA -- Southern Lehigh), Rebecca Matturro ’14 (Smithtown, NY -- Smithtown), Laura Bartus ’13 (Suffield, CT -- Williston Northampton), Bridget Keefe ’14 (Florence, MA -- Northampton), Krista Peltier ’15 (Waterford, CT -- Waterford) and Sallie Wright ’12 (Horseheads, NY -- Notre Dame).
Mary-Kate Gellerman ’13 (Frederick, MD -- Urbana), LeAnna Presler ’14 (Livonia, NY -- Livonia) and Caileen Waldron ’15 (Egypt, NJ -- New Egypt) all split time in net for EC.
