Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Men’s Lacrosse team downed visiting Keuka College 17-11 Wednesday afternoon at Elmira Free Academy. The win keeps the Soaring Eagles undefeated at 3-0, while the loss drops the Storm to 1-2.

EC got off to a 4-2 lead after the first period of play behind three early points from TJ White ’12 (Collegeville, PA --Methacton) in the form of two goals and a helper. After two man-up scores in the first two minutes of the second quarter the Storm tied the game at four all. Elmira responded with three unanswered markers, with two coming from second year midfielder David Evert ’14 (Niagara Falls, NY -- Niagara Wheatfield). The Storm trimmed the deficit to 7-6 after two scores by Gino Marcello, but the Purple and Gold outscored Keuka 2-1 the remainder of the second quarter to take a 9-7 lead into intermission.

Elmira seized momentum out of halftime as it scored four straight times in a span of five and a half minutes to take a commanding 13-7 advantage. The Storm never got closer than four goals the remainder of the game as EC cruised late, controlling possession to stave off any comeback attempt.

White led the Soaring Eagle attack with three goals and three assists, while Evert scored four goals and tallied one assist. Jackson Correia ’14 (Simsbury, CT -- The Master’s School) chipped in two goals and two assists and Mike DeMar ’15 (Macedon, NY -- Palmyra Macedon) added one score and two helpers.  Dave Bucchino ’13 (Cedar Grove, NJ -- Bow) stopped 16 shots in the win for the Soaring Eagles, while Eric Saltrelli made 11 saves in the loss for the Storm.
