St. John Fisher Cruises Past Cazenovia

The St. John Fisher College baseball team used 16 hits to score 12 runs and defeated visiting Cazenovia College 12-1 on Friday in a nine-inning game.

With the win, Fisher improves to 11-4 overall, while Cazenovia falls to 4-8.

Fisher snapped a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning with a five-run fourth inning.   The Cardinals tacked on three in the seventh and two in the eight to pull away.

Senior pitcher Tim Johnson improved to 3-0 on the year and lowered his ERA to 0.47 on the year.  The righty struck out nine over six innings and allowed just four hits and one unearned run. 

Junior Ben Bostick picked up a team-high three hits on the day.  He also drove in two runs and stole two bases, giving him 19 swipes on the year.

Steve Karnyski went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, as did Nicholas Flemister.  Brad Rush doubled twice and scored two runs, while Sean Osterman went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs.

 Freshman Matthew Cahill came off the bench and delivered a two-run single.  Dave VanGorder also drove in two runs with a single in the eighth.

Fisher's George Weber struck out four in two innings of relief, while Kieran Murphy struck out two in the ninth.
