All-America Relay, 200 IM Finish Lift Bombers At NCAAs

Indianapolis, Ind. - Junior Carly Jones of the Ithaca College women's swimming & diving team placed 14th in the finals of the 200-yard individual medley and was part of the Bombers' 15th-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay to earn two all-America honors on the first day of competition Wednesday at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. Jones now has five all-America finishes in her career.

Jones swam 2:06.49 in the preliminary heats of the 200 IM and clocked in at 2:06.66 in the consolation finals to finish 14th overall.

The 200 medley relay team of freshman Kylie Bangs, junior Madi Sherry, Jones and sophomore Elizabeth Gawrys swam 1:46.97 to qualify for the consolation final and then timed in at 1:47.41 in the evening session and finished 15th, which earned all-America honors for the quartet. It is the first all-America finish for Bangs and Gawrys, and the third-career honor for Sherry.

Ithaca ranks 18th in the team standings after the first day of the four-day NCAA meet.
