Pair of School Records Slashed as Ithaca Competes at ECACs

New York, N.Y. – The Ithaca men’s track & field team placed 13th out of 62 schools at the 2012 ECAC Indoor Championships at the Armory on Saturday.

Senior Jusan Hamilton finished sixth in the weight throw with a 17.70-meter heave setting a new Ithaca school record. He powered past the 2003 record of 16.84 meters set by Drew Davidson.

Junior Alec Svoboda placed fifth and rewrote his own school record in the heptathlon with 4,313 points. He placed first in the multi pole vault and third in the multi 1,000-meter run. Senior Doug Koury followed in seventh with 4,227 points as he won the multi 1,000 run and finished third in the multi 60 dash and the multi high jump. Koury also placed eighth in the 400 dash with a time of 49.75.

Junior David Geary placed sixth in the mile run in 4:16.96.

Junior Matthew Kastler, freshman Mason Mann, junior Billy Savage and freshman Dennis Ryan teamed together to finish third in the 4x800 relay in 7:52.30, just .65 seconds of Ithaca’s school record.
