Comeback Victory For Ithaca At St. Lawrence

Canton, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's tennis team rallied for a 5-4 dual-match victory at St. Lawrence on Saturday afternoon at Newell Field House in Canton. The Bombers trailed 2-1 after doubles matches were completed and were behind 4-2 during singles matches, before winning the final three matches on court and getting the team's first dual-match victory of the season. Ithaca (1-1) is ranked 17th in the Northeast Region, and St. Lawrence fell to 0-4.

The Bomber comeback started at second singles where Griffin Reid rallied after dropping the first set of his match to win the second set 6-4 and went on to a 6-1 win in the decisive third set. David Andersen picked up a win at fourth singles with another rally. Andersen trailed 0-3 and 3-5 in the third set, fought off three match points and went on to win the set 7-6, with a 7-3 score in the tiebreaker. The clinching point came at sixth singles where Justin Levine won 6-0, 7-6, with a 7-5 score in the tiebreaker.

Ithaca returns to action March 13 on its spring training trip, facing Connecticut College in Hilton Head, S.C.
