Ithaca Wins Seven Events to Open Outdoor Season at Ithaca Invite
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men’s track & field team hit a pair of ECAC qualifiers on Saturday as the Bombers hosted the Ithaca Invitational. Ithaca posted 17 top-three performances, including seven event victories.
Senior Jusan Hamilton hit the ECAC qualifier in the hammer throw with a 48.14-meter heave to place fourth in the event.
Senior Doug Koury clocked the Bombers’ other ECAC finisher on the day with a 49.98 first-place finish in the 400-meter dash, while freshman Matt Femia placed third in 51.39.
Femia won the 200 dash in 23.66 and classmate Kyle Mackinnon followed in third crossing the finish line in 24.67.
The Bombers took 1-2-3 in the 100 dash and the 10,000 run. Freshman Kevin Davis was first in the 100 in 11.61, junior Clay Ardoin second in 11.62 and freshman Rashaad Barrett third in 11.89. Junior Joseph Lu won the 10K in 34:22.42, senior Tyler Murray was second in 34:22.52 and junior Mark Vorensky finished third in 34:22.58.
Juniors David Geary and Nathan Bickell placed first and third, respectively, with times of 1:56.06 and 1:57.88 in the 800 run.
Junior Matt Confer was third in the 110 hurdles crossing the finish line in 16.20.
Koury won the high jump and sophomore Brendan Wilkins was the runner-up. Koury cleared 1.88 meters and Wilkins 1.83 meters.
Freshman Taylor Appel placed third in the pole vault. He cleared 3.80 meters.
Ithaca’s 4x100 relay placed first in 43.99.
