Ithaca Seeks Eighth Empire 8 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Title
Ithaca College is seeking its fifth consecutive conference title and eighth in the nine-year history of the sport in the conference at the Empire 8 Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship Saturday at Ithaca.
The Bombers enter the championship ranked ninth in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s outdoor poll and sits atop the national dual meet power rankings with 184.59 points.
Senior Emma Dewart of the Bombers earned her sixth Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Year honor earlier this season after capturing her second consecutive pentathlon title at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. She is a 10-time All-American and the most decorated student-athlete in the school track program’s history.
Junior Jennifer Randall of the Bombers was chosen as the Empire 8 Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. Senior Jessica Hoeffner and Dewart have each garnered conference weekly awards in the outdoor season.
Lauren DeLude of Utica College was selected as the Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year after winning conference indoor titles in the 60-meter dash and 200 meters. She has also earned Empire 8 Athlete of the Week honors this spring.
Junior Alina Duran of Stevens Institute of Technology broke the school record in the hammer throw to receive conference weekly honors this spring.
First-year runner Hannah Brackley of Nazareth College won the 400-meter dash at the ROC City Classic hosted by the Golden Flyers.
Sophomore Chelsea Hall of Alfred University won the 100-meter hurdles to lead the Saxons to the team title at the Alfred State Invitational earlier this spring.
St. John Fisher is competing in the outdoor championship for the first time. Nicoletta Lattuca won the long jump at the ROC City Classic.
