St. John Fisher Men's Golf Pushes Lead to 34 in Empire 8 Championship

The St. John Fisher College men’s golf team played the third round of the Empire 8 Championship on Saturday at the Hershey Country Club East Course in Hershey, PA. Fisher took a 19 stroke lead from the first two rounds into Saturday, with the early rounds being played during the fall portion of the schedule.

The Cardinals pushed its lead to 34 strokes on Saturday, with a three-round total of 891, the next closest competitor being Elmira College with a cumulative 925.

Thad Weir led Fisher with a round three score of 70, tying teammate Tyler McArdell for the tournament lead with scores at 218. McArdell and Weir have a five-stroke lead over the rest of the field, setting up a likely Fisher competition between teammates to name an Empire 8 Champion on Sunday.

Freshman Chris Blyth scored the second-best round for the Cardinals on Saturday, shooting a 74 for a three-round total 10 strokes off the lead.
