St. John Fisher Men's Golf Cruises to Empire 8 Championship Title
The St. John Fisher College men’s golf team won the Empire 8 Championship on Sunday afternoon with the top two individual finishers coming from Fisher’s squad. The Cardinals also placed five in the top 10 finishers in the tournament that was held at the Hershey Country Club East Course in Hershey, PA.
Tyler McArdell won the tournament with a four-round score of 289, while Thad Wier placed just behind him after shooting a 296. The two Cardinals were tied after three round, but McArdell shot seven strokes better than Weir to claim the victory.
As a team, Fisher shot 53 strokes better than any competitor with a total of 1194 to run away with first place. Elmira College finished in second with a score of 1247.
After finishing Round Three in sixth place, freshman Chris Blyth moved up a spot on the final day to finish in fifth with a total score of 307. Joseph Radulski rounded out Fisher’s top 10 finishers with a score of 310 to tie for seventh.
Ryan McGinnis rounded out the Cardinal finishers, tying for 15th with a score of 320.
With the Championship win, the Cardinals will move on to play in the NCAA Championship which will be held at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL from May 15th-18th.
