Empire 8 Announces Men's Golf All-Conference Team

Tyler McArdell of St. John Fisher Repeats as Player of the Year Honor

Senior Tyler McArdell of conference champion St. John Fisher College earned the Medalist/Player of the Year honor for the second consecutive year at the 2011-12 Empire 8 Golf Championship. McArdell posted the best first- (69) second- (71) and fourth-round (70) scores to shoot a four-round total of 289, seven strokes ahead of the runner-up.

The final two rounds were played at the Hershey Country Club East Course after the opening two rounds were conducted at Yahnundasis Golf Club in September. 

The top five finishers who played all four rounds were named to the all-conference first team with the next five finishers earning second-team honors. 

 

Sophomore Tad Wier of the Cardinals finished second and led all scorers with a round of 70 in the third round. Teammate Chris Blyth was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year as the top freshman finisher (307) and joined McArdell and Wier on the all-conference first team.

Junior Thomas Fenyak of Moravian College shot a four-round 299 to finish third earn first-team all-conference recognition after making the second team last season.

Junior Chris Schank of the University of Scranton garnered first-team accolades with his fourth-place finish and a final total of 305.

Bob Simms repeated as Coach of the Year for leading St. John Fisher to the second title in a row.
