Oneonta, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team (19-8-1) snapped a four-game losing streak Wednesday, beating host Oneonta (14-18) 6-4.

The Bombers took advantage of five Red Dragon errors and jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Oneonta came to bat. Three Ithaca pitchers combined to allow one run and seven hits over the final seven innings.

Luke Stark led the Bombers with a career-best three hits, including a two-run single that highlighted Ithaca’s five-run first. The five-run outburst was helped by three errors, a wild pitch and a passed ball by Oneonta.

Sophomore shortstop Tim Locastro – who returned to the line-up after missing eight games – reached on an infield error and stole second to open the inning. After senior second baseman Matt Keller walked and senior center fielder Mike Rosenbaum beat out a bunt, sophomore third baseman Colby Gee singled in the game’s first run. An infield ground ball and Red Dragon throwing error brought two more runs home.

Locastro went two for five, extending his hitting streak to 20 games – the longest since all-American Ron Amato’s school-record 27-game streak in 2000.

Rosenbaum scored a pair of runs. He closed out Ithaca’s scoring in the fourth, reaching on a one-out single and stealing second before scoring on another Oneonta error.

Freshman Andrew Sanders earned his first career win, allowing just one earned run over five innings. Sanders struck out four batters and didn’t issue a walk. Junior Pat Lemmo, who’s 7-1 on the season, followed with three innings of four-hit, one-run relief. Senior closer Tucker Healy recorded his third save of the year, fanning two Red Dragons, including the tying run to end the game.

The Bombers return home for the first time in six games this weekend; Ithaca hosts Stevens in a three-game Empire 8 weekend series with a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday.
