St. John Fisher Defeats Hartwick on Final Match

The St. John Fisher College men’s tennis team defeated Hartwick College 5-4 in a battle that was decided by the final match of the day.  Daniel Parshall won the match for the Cardinals, defeating his opponent 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 at fourth singles.
 
The win was Fisher’s second-straight, as they now move to 3-8 on the season and 2-1 in Empire 8 play.  Hartwick falls to 1-4, 1-1 E8.
 
Sheldon Mitchell and Chris Maley represented the other singles wins for Fisher, as they both won at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.  Mitchell defeated Hartwick’s Bobby Amberson 6-4, 6-3 while Maley won his match against Will Gilbraith 6-1, 6-3.
 
The duo of John Whelehan and Parshall earned a point at second doubles, seeing an 8-5 result.  Tom Quinzi and Pat McGrath also won in doubles play with an 8-3 victory in third singles.
