Oneonta, NY – Meghan Pass ’12 (Owego, NY -- Owego Free Academy) recorded eight goals as she eclipsed the 100 goal career mark, leading the Women’s Lacrosse team past Hartwick College, 16-10, Saturday afternoon in Oneonta. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in Empire 8 action, while the loss drops the Hawks to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
In the first half the game was very even with each team trading off scores. Although the Hawks scored first in the game, Pass would control the game with her play-making abilities. She scored five of EC’s nine goals in the half, while Lindsay Mitchell ’12 (Arnold, MD -- Arnold) pitched in with two goals and Emma Schepers ’13 (Elmvale, ONT -- Team Ontario) tallied two assists.
In the second half EC controlled the tempo of the game outscoring the Hawks 7-2 in route to a 16-10 victory and its first conference win of the 2012 season. Pass recorded three more goals and an assist in the second half as she now has 101 career goals, while Mitchell recorded another two goals.
Other key players for the Soaring Eagle attack were Samantha Risi ’14 (Coopersburg, PA --Southern Lehigh), Marissa Mongillo ’15 (Shelton, CT -- Trumbull) and Marki Michaels ’13 (Manchester, NY -- Midlakes). Risi finished the game with two goals, while Mongillo finished with a goal and Michaels contributed a goal and assist. MaryKate Gellerman ’13 (Fredrick, MD -- Urbana) picked up the win for EC in net tallying five saves.
