Dlubac, Baumbach Set School Records, Ithaca in First at ECAC Championships
Troy, N.Y. – The 16th-ranked Ithaca College women’s track & field team tallied 31 points to lead the field after day one of competition at the 2012 ECAC Outdoor Championships at Rensselaer. Eight events were scored on Thursday. Competition will resume at 10 a.m. on Friday. The final event is scheduled for 3:35 p.m. Friday.
Senior Ashley Dlubac smashed the javelin school record to win the event with a toss of 42.85 meters. The previous record of 41.44 meters was held by
Katie Schkolenko set seven years ago.
Senior Heidi Baumbach clocked a school-record setting time of 10:58.44 in the 3,000 steeplechase to place second in the event.
Baumbach’s time broke the previous 2004 record of 10:59.07 set by
Amanda Laytham. Junior Carly Graham placed seventh in the steeple with a time of 11:13.35.
The Bombers’ 1,600 relay of freshman Harmony Graves, senior Emma Dewart, senior Becca Dewart and junior Jenn Randall placed second with a time of 3:50.62, just .12 shy of the school-record relay on which head coach Jennifer Potter competed.
Freshman Emilia Scheemaker placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.46 meters.
Dewart qualified for the 100 hurdles finals winning her heat and clocking the fastest time in the preliminaries of 14.35.
Junior Amanda Rissmeyer sits second after four events in the heptathlon competition with 2,686 points, just seven points shy of the frontrunner. Senior Hannah Evans ranks 11th in the event with 2,111 points.
Rissmeyer finished second in the high jump with a clear of 1.60 meters, second in the shot put with a heave of 11.81 meters, sixth in the 100 hurdles in 16.42 and ninth in the 200 dash with a time of 27.92.
