EVANSTON, Ill. --The Empire 8 Athletic Conference had four men’s and four women’s swimming and diving teams chosen as College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams for their academic work through the spring 2012 semester, as announced by the CSCAA. A total of 123 NCAA Division III women’s teams and 79 NCAA Division III men’s teams earned the distinction.
The Team Scholar All America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships (winter/spring).
The Ithaca women led the list of Empire 8 women’s teams with a 3.47 grade-point average. Joining the Bombers were Nazareth (3.42), Stevens Institute of Technology (3.27) and Hartwick (3.06).
On the men’s side, Ithaca and Stevens Institute of Technology each posted a 3.12 grade-point average. Hartwick (3.05) and Nazareth (3.01) also made the academic list.
