Germano and Horan Honored by E8
Elmira sophomore Andre Germano and Nazareth sophomore JP Horan have been honored as the conference offensive and defensive players of the week.
Germano returned to his reigning Empire 8 Rookie of the Year form scoring four goals in a 3-0 week for the Elmira College Men's Soccer team. The sophomore came up huge tallying a hat trick against conference rival Alfred University, including the eventual game-winner. He followed that performance up by scoring the game-tying goal in a 2-1 win against Pitt Bradford on Sunday. On the week Germano was incredibly accurate placing six of his eight shots on goal.
Elmira continues its home stand Tuesday when it squares off with SUNY Institute of Technology at 4:00 p.m. on Campus Field.
Horan helped Nazareth to a pair of 3-1 victories last week, including a home-field win over Utica in the Golden Flyers' E8 opener last Saturday. Horan had five saves against the Pioneers, including a diving stop from point-blank range that could have tied the game in the second half. He also had six saves in a non-conference win over Fredonia last Tuesday.
Horan has played every minute of all five games for the Golden Flyers in 2012 and has a 1.20 goals-against average with one shutout. Nazareth hosts RIT Tuesday at 4 p.m.
