Elmira Men’s Soccer Continues to Lead NCAA in Scoring

Nineteen Division III men’s soccer teams are undefeated mid-way through September and two of those teams compete in the Empire 8. Elmira College (6-0) and Nazareth College (5-0) are both off to impressive starts in the 2012 season.
 
Tuesday the NCAA released statistics through games played September 16th, 2012 and the Soaring Eagles continue to rank first among all three divisions in scoring offense at 5.00 goals per game. High Point leads Division I with 3.67 scores per contest, while Saint Michael's is the class of Division II coming in at 4.50 goals per game.
 
Individually, Nazareth junior Luke Elston ranks fourth with 3.4 points per game, just head of Elmira junior Ernesto Valverde (3.17). Valverde also comes in seventh in total points with 19.
 
Meanwhile, Elmira freshman Tre Ming is tied for second in total assists (6). Utica’s Alex Sheridan is tied with Valverde for ninth in the category (5).
